Karam Singh, who was given the honorary rank of lieutenant, took part in the 1962, 1965, and 1971 wars. His son, honorary captain Avtar Singh, also retired from the Army. He joined his father in hoisting the tricolour. Karam Singh’s grandson is also currently serving as a soldier in the Indian Army.
