Agartala, Jul 10 (PTI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday regarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his political Guru (mentor) who had inspired him to join politics.

Saha was a member of Congress before joining the BJP in 2016 and rose to become the BJP Tripura state unit president in 2020 and the Chief Minister in 2022.

Expressing his gratitude to PM Modi on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the chief minister said, "My only inspiration behind joining politics was Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If someone asks me who my political Guru or mentor is, I will rightly say Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

Saha also expressed his deep regards to his teachers and professors in academic life.

"All teachers who have contributed to the academic life of an individual should be regarded as a Guru. I still try to keep in touch with my teachers who have inspired me to work hard and polished me both as a human being and as a student," he stated.
