India News | Punjab Police Arrest Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Gang Member; Seize Weapons

Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], September 3 (ANI): In a significant development, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested a member of the notorious Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang following an encounter, according to Punjab Police.

"In a major breakthrough, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested Kannu Gujjar, a notorious gangster and close associate of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, after a brief encounter. Kannu Gujjar was critically injured during the encounter and is currently receiving medical treatment," said Gaurav Yadav, Punjab Police DGP, in a post on X on Tuesday.

"The recovered weapons include eight pistols, 55 live rounds, and eight cartridges. Previously, eight FIRs for heinous crimes had been registered against Kannu Gujjar. @PunjabPoliceInd is fully committed to dismantling organised crime networks as per the directions of Hon'ble CM @BhagwantMann," he added.

In April this year, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested three operatives of the same gang. In the same month, they thwarted planned sensational crimes by arresting two operatives of the Bambiha Gang and seizing three pistols and one kilogramme of opium.

According to the police, the Bambiha Gang is involved in multiple heinous crimes such as murder, threats, extortion, ransom, and various other criminal activities across several districts of Punjab.

Earlier, in a significant blow to trans-border drug smuggling networks, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested an associate of the Jaipal Bhullar Gang and recovered three kilogrammes of heroin and two pistols.

Investigations revealed that the racket was sourcing heroin from across the border in Pakistan. (ANI)
