Machilipatnam (AP), Aug 6 (PTI) Jana Sena MP from Machilipatnam V Balashowry on Tuesday met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi and requested funds for several railway projects in his constituency, including the Machilipatnam-Repalle railway line.
Balashowry informed the railway minister that the Machilipatnam-Repalle line would help the people of Diviseema as currently, one has to travel 145 km via Gudivada, Vijayawada to reach Tenali from Machilipatnam, according to a statement.
It would be brought down to 45 km by the Machilipatnam-Repalle railway line, making it easier to travel via Chennai, Tirupati and other places, the MP said.
He told Vaishnaw that this would also reduce the traffic burden on Vijayawada Junction, according to the statement.
Balashowry also requested the revival of the train from Machilipatnam to Dharmavaram via Tirupati, which was discontinued last September.
