Chandigarh, Sep 4 (PTI) Maximum temperatures today stayed close to normal levels in most parts of Punjab and Haryana.

Union Territory Chandigarh, the joint capital of both states, registered its maximum at 32 degrees Celsius, as per the MeT department report. The city also received 2.3 mm of rainfall.

Among other places in Haryana, Ambala, Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul recorded their respective maximums at 32.4, 35.5, 31 and 33.2 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum settled at 34.3 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum temperatures of 33.2 and 33.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the MeT forecast, light to moderate rains are likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
