Mock Bomb Drill at City Airport

Kolkata, Sep 19 (PTI) A mock bomb drill was conducted at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here on Wednesday, a release by the airport authorities said.
The threat preparedness evacuation drill was needed to test co-ordination and response of all the agencies functioning in the airport in keeping with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) requirements.
As a part of the drill conducted by the Airports Authority of India and the CISF, all passengers and staff members at the international terminal were evacuated, the release said.
CISF personnel, along with the Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad, carried out searches for an explosive-laden bag planted in the terminal building, as part of the exercise.
The drill was conducted without causing any inconvenience to airport operations, it said.
