NCP Rallies to Have Shivaji's Saffron Flag Along with Party One

NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Saturday said his party would hoist two flags during rallies in poll- bound Maharashtra, one of the organisation and the other the saffron one of warrior king Shivaji.

Mumbai, Aug 24 (PTI) NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Saturday said his party would hoist two flags during rallies in poll- bound Maharashtra, one of the organisation and the other the saffron one of warrior king Shivaji.

Addressing a rally in Parbhani as part of the NCP's 'Shivswarajya Yatra' on Friday, Pawar said the revered Maratha ruler belonged to all and not to any particular individual or party.

"Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj belongs to all. We have decided that henceforth, NCP rallies will have two flags, that of Shivaji Maharaj and the other of the party," he said.

Till now, it is the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena which has been using saffron flags at its rallies and events.

The Maharashtra Assembly polls are due in September- October.
