Islamabad [Pakistan], July 19 (ANI): The interim federal cabinet of Pakistan has approved an amendment to the Election Act 2017, which limits the number of judges in the election tribunal by two.

In a meeting held on Wednesday, chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, the cabinet reviewed issues related to transparency in the election and approved the amendment to form election tribunals to tackle matters regarding rigging, Geo TV reported.

Following the amendment, the tribunal members will be appointed with consent by the relevant high court chief justice and will tackle complaints regarding national and provincial assemblies, as well as the Senate.

As per the prescribed clause, a trouble may be put forth regarding the resolution of complaints in the stipulated time period of 120 days, due to the unavailability of more than two judges, the report further noted. (ANI)
