Kolkata, Aug 18 (PTI) All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) West Bengal secretary Naren Chatterjee today said the party's prospects would not be affected by senior leader Paresh Adhikary's joining the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Chatterjee's comment came after Adhikary who was a minister during the Left Front regime yesterday joined the TMC saying he wants to be part of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's developmental politics.

"His joining the TMC won't affect our party, rather he has been exposed as a political opportunist, who have switched sides to gain politically. The people of this state would give him a befitting reply," Chatterjee said.

Adhikary had been an MLA from Mekhliganj constituency in Cooch Behar district. He lost the assembly polls in 2016.
