Center forward Moussa Dembele's early chance was saved by Lille goalkeeper Leo Jardim, and Lille scored with its first shot on target in the 35th.

A cross from the right was clumsily headed by Thiago Mendes into the path of left back Gabriel Gudmundsson, and he volleyed home neatly from close range.

Jardim saved from midfielder Lucas Paqueta in the 76th but was beaten by him in the 86th. Paqueta intercepted the ball after Jardim fluffed his kick and kicked the ground instead of the ball. Paqueta rolled the ball in, but his effort was ruled out following a video review for a supposed foul on Jardim.

Lille is now eighth while Lyon dropped to 10th.
