Kolkata, Jul 2 (PTI) In the backdrop of the BJP making steady inroads in Jhargram district, the TMC today made some organizational changes at the block level in the district.

Out of the eight blocs in Jhargram, block presidents of five were changed.

"We have made a few changes at the grass root level in order to have better mass connect," said a TMC leader.

The BJP has performed well in Jhargram and Purulia district in the last panchayat polls. The TMC top brass was miffed with party's result in the Jangalmahal belt of the state- which comprises forested areas of adjoining districts - Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram and West Midnapore.

The recent bypolls and the panchayat election results have indicated a paradigm shift in the state politics with the saffron party emerging as the main opposition to the TMC, although it has a long way to go before it can put up a close fight to the ruling party.

Within two weeks of the election results, three cabinet ministers were asked to resign from their posts and concentrate on the party's organisational work.

Backward Class Welfare Minister Churamani Mahato, Tribal Development Minister James Kujur and Abani Joardar, who did not have a portfolio, resigned following the party's orders.
