New Delhi [India], October 15 (ANI): In an interaction with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Duarte Pacheco, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar focused on the importance of interparliamentary cooperation and the role of the IPU in providing a platform for Parliamentarians to discuss wide-ranging issues relevant to contemporary times.

The Vice-President also received Parliamentary Delegations that called on him on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Forum and the P20 Summit, the Vice President's Secretariat said in an official release.

The Vice President also hosted lunch for delegates of participating nations on the occasion of the Ninth G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on Saturday.

Speakers and delegation leaders from G20 countries who had attended the 9th P20 Summit and Parliamentary Forum, which was held in New Delhi from October 12-14, and was sponsored by the Parliament of India in partnership with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), attended the lunch, according to the press release.

On October 13, Dhankhar hosted the P-20 Parliamentary delegations from Turkey and Russia at Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas.

The Turkish delegation was led by Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Russian delegation was headed by Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

With the leaders of the two nations, the vice president had in-depth conversations. The leaders emphasised the longstanding, cordial, and cultural ties between India and their respective countries as well as the value of expanding parliamentary dialogue between them, the press release said.

Prior to this, on October 12, the vice president had also met with a delegation from the Australian Parliament, which included Senator Sue Lines, president of the Senate, and Milton Dick, speaker of the House of Representatives.

On the same day, the Vice-President visited Shaikh Abdulmalik Al Khalili, Chairman of Majlis A' Dwala (State Council), Sultanate of Oman.

The focus of both engagements was on improving parliamentary interactions in order to further solidify the cordial relations between the countries and their thriving inter-human relationships. (ANI)
