Why UFBU Has Called For The Strike
The United Forum of Bank Unions has called the three day strike over demands including the implementation of five day banking and the withdrawal of the Performance Linked Incentive scheme. Banking Work That May Be Affected During The Strike
Several routine tasks that require a visit to a bank branch are likely to be hit between September 28 and September 30, including cash deposits and withdrawals over the counter, cheque clearing, passbook updates, new account opening, KYC document submission and demand draft creation. The strike also coincides with half year closing on September 30, which could affect several month end banking processes.
Digital Banking Services Will Continue To Work
Customers can continue to use UPI, Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm for online payments during the strike period. Cash withdrawals can be made through ATMs and cash deposit machines, while NEFT, RTGS and IMPS transfers will remain available through net banking, mobile apps and YONO. Credit and debit card payments, swipe machines and online bill payment services are also expected to function without disruption.
Customers who have branch specific work to complete are advised to finish it on September 25 or September 27, and to check their local bank holiday list before stepping out for any branch visit.
