Gully Boy Box Office Collection Day 5: Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's Musical Drama Holds up Well on the Crucial Monday
Ranveer and Alia's film passes the crucial Monday test.
After getting off to a flying start at the box office on February 14, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's film Gully Boy has been rock steady at the ticket windows since then. The Zoya Akhtar directorial may not be a typical masala movie but it has impressed both the critics and the audience alike. In fact, Ranveer even received a congratulatory message on Instagram from Hollywood actor and rapper Will Smith for doing a film like Gully Boy which is basically about rap music. After surpassing the Rs 50 crore mark in the first three days itself, Ranveer's film is now eyeing to enter the Rs 100 crore club. In fact, Gully Boy will easily reach the century mark within two or three days. As per BollywoodHungama, the film passed the crucial Monday test as it raked in Rs 9 crore on the fifth day. This means the total five-day collection of Ranveer starrer stands at Rs 81.45 crore as of now. Since Zoya's film is very Mumbai-centric, the box office figures are quite commendable.
Further, a report in Boxofficeindia.com states, "The drop on Monday is around 35% and it should ensure a HIT film though it will be Friday that will confirm this. There is a regional holiday on Tuesday for Shivaji Jayanti and this will help the collections further in Mumbai and Pune as its a holiday in Maharashtra." Going by the current box office trend, it seems Gully Boy will continue to get cash registers ringing without any trouble especially in the urban areas. However, Indra Kumar's multi-starrer Total Dhamaal starring Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Anil Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, and few others in the lead is hitting the theatres this Friday, on February 22. And if the adventure comedy turns out to be a crowd puller then it could end up affecting Gully Boy at the BO. But for now, the makers of Ranveer starrer have nothing worry about.
