Zoya Akhtar's much-awaited film Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead has finally hit the theatres today, February 14. And the musical drama, which had its world premiere at the 69th Berlin International Film festival, has gotten off to a very good start at the box office according to early reports. Considering the film has garnered rave reviews from all quarters, it's not surprising that audiences are rushing to the cinema halls to watch the film. In fact, when the trailer of Gully Boy was released, everyone on social media went into a frenzy and couldn't stop gushing about Ranveer and Alia's act. Gully Boy Movie Review: Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt Are Bloody Brilliant in Zoya Akhtar’s Finest Work to Date!

Anyway, Coming back to the film's fate at the box office, it's quite certain that Gully Boy will have a good run at the ticket windows. The film could also become the second blockbuster of 2019 after Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike. We say so because as per, Ranveer starrer has opened to terrific response in Mumbai and Pune during morning shows.

The Boxofficeindia report stated, "Gully Boy took a good opening of around 40-45% overall while cities like Mumbai and Pune took a blockbuster opening which can compare with the biggest of films. The opening of this film was far bigger than Padmaavat and Simmba in Mumbai / Thane and Pune. This is probably due to the local feel of the film." Gully Boy Box Office Prediction: Can Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Film Beat First Day Collections of Vicky Kaushal’s Uri and Become the Highest Opener of 2019?

Further, the report pointed out, "The film has a Thursday release because of Valentines Day. It is not an official holiday but collections do get a boost. The last two years have seen the release of films like Jolly LLB 2 and Pad Man and they got a boost of 25-30% despite not having much for the youth. Gully Boy should get a bigger boost as its a film for the youth with youth stars but it will be the collections tomorrow which will tell how much the boost was." With impressive reviews from critics and good opening at the ticket windows, Gully Boy is indeed on its way to box office success.
