Javed Akhtar has lashed out at director Shekhar Kapur who posted a tweet in which he compared the ‘embrace of intellectuals to snake bite’. This tweet did not go well with Javed Akhtar and he reacted asking the filmmaker to ‘meet a psychiatrist’. The war of words between the two seem to have no end. Shekhar Kapur tweeted, “Started life as refugee of Partition. Parents gave everything to make a life for kids. Was always in fear of ‘intellectuals’. They made me feel insignicant. Small. Then suddenly embraced me after my films. I still fear them. Their embrace is like a bite of snake. Still a refugee.” Javed Akhtar strongly responded back saying, “.who are these intellectuals who embraced you and you found that embrace like a snake’s bite ? Shyam Benegal , Adoor Gopal Krishna , Ram chandra Guha ? Really ? . Shekhar saheb you are not well . You need help . For those unaware, it all started after 49 celebs wrote an open letter on July 23 to PM Narendra Modi requesting to take severe action over the mob lynching issue happening in the country. There was a counter statement issued by 61 personalities three days later that read, “selective outrage and false narratives”.
