As per IMD's latest update, the monsoon is expected to reach Southern Maharashtra or Konkan region in next 24-48 hours. It is predicted to reach Mumbai city in the next 48-72 hours.

Mumbai, June 7: Mumbai city has witnessed inconsistent spells of rains in the last few days. The brief spells of showers have announced the arrival of monsoon in the island city, finally. If the weather forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD) is anything to go by, the intensity of rains in the city and parts of Maharashtra is going to experience heavy spells of rainfall, much worse than the July 26, 2005, downpour.
As per the latest notifications from IMD, the Mumbai skyline is likely to be generally cloudy. There lies a possibility of rains or thundershowers to occur in the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperature predicted by the IMD department is 34 and 27 degrees respectively. Another notification from the IMD says that the same weather conditions will prevail for the next 48 hours too.
The IMD had earlier predicted rainfall in the city and coastal regions of Maharashtra from June 7, Thursday. As per their forecast, they had predicted heavy rainfalls in the city from June 9 to June 11.
The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has roped in Navy’s services, as there are heavy rainfall predictions being made by both, IMD and SkyMet Weather forecast.

The brief spell of rainfall in the evening was a reason for delight for many, as the downpour brought a major relief to the city inhabitants. The weather forecasts by IMD and SkyMet Weather have predicted heavy and intense rainfall in the Mumbai city and parts of Maharashtra in coming days.
