With Goa CM Manohar Parrikar’s death, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education had postponed Monday’s exam and informed that it would take place on March 29.

All official programmes of BJP including the CEC scheduled for tomorrow, have been cancelled, following the demise of Former Defence Minister and Goa CM Manohar Parrikar.

Government of Goa also announced: As a mark of respect for departed soul of #ManoharParrikar, CM of Goa, all the state government offices, local-autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings, all educational institutions including aided institutions shall remain closed on March 18.

New Delhi, March 17: With less than a month to go for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to release its first list of candidates today. The BJP may declare candidates for 100 seats and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will re-contest from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, reports said. Since the BJP has done away with an undeclared rule of not offering a ministerial position or ticket to those aged above 75, veterans such as LK Advani (91), Murli Manohar Joshi (85) and Kalraj Mishra (77) are likely to feature in the first list.

A political crisis is unfolding in Goa where the health condition of ailing chief minister Manohar Parrikar deteriorated on Saturday. The Congress party has staked claim to form the government. The BJP leadership will hold a meeting with its legislators and allies to make a strategy for further course of action. The Congress party has decided to field former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki against BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju in Arunachal West seat in the Lok Sabha elections. Tuki's name features in the list of 27 candidates released by the Congress on Saturday night. Besides, former Arunachal Pradesh Minister James Lowangcha Wanglet has been fielded from Arunachal East constituency.
