According to Alok Kumar, three video clips surfaced on the Bangalore Suddi news portal around 9 a.m. on Saturday. The media shared the clips with the DGP, prompting Chief Superintendent Anshu Kumar and his team to identify the culprits and seize mobile phones hidden inside a pipe in a toilet chamber.
The main accused in the incident include Darshan and Abhi, linked to the Hennur Bande murder case, while the voice in the recordings was identified as Zypsin Daniel. Kumar said the prisoners deliberately released the videos to demoralise prison officials and undermine reform efforts. Staff Accountability and Mobile Connectivity
Action has also been initiated against staff on duty during the night of March 27 and the morning of March 28. Kumar flagged the presence of Airtel network signals in parts of the prison, noting that authorities have issued warnings to ensure proper measures are taken to block mobile connectivity.
“The process of reforms in the Prison and Correctional Services department will go on despite attempts by a few vested interests to subvert it,” Kumar said, emphasising that officers and staff continue to implement proposed changes aimed at strengthening prison management.
A formal complaint has been filed at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison Police Station against the accused prisoners. The department continues to review security protocols to prevent similar incidents, while maintaining its commitment to ongoing reform initiatives.
