New Delhi, September: Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Monday, September 16, said that he will visit Jammu and Kashmir if required to check whether the allegations that people are having difficulties in accessing the Jammu and Kashmir High Court are true. The apex court was hearing a plea by Enakshi Ganguly, an activist, which alleged that children and teens in the state are going through hardships amid partial restrictions. Ghulam Nabi Azad Allowed to Travel to Jammu And Kashmir With Conditions by Supreme Court.

“Why is it difficult to go to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court? Is anyone coming in the way? we will seek a reply from the chief justice of the high court in the matter. If required, I will go to the high court and speak to the chief justice. If people can’t approach the HC we have to do something,” CJI Ranjan Gogoi said. Solicitor General KK Venugopal, who was representing the government, said that all courts are functioning in Jammu and Kashmir including the lok adalats. The apex court asked the government to make all efforts to restore normalcy in the valley as soon as possible.

A bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi and justices SA Bobde and SA Nazeer were hearing petitions on the restrictions in the Kashmir valley. “We want to know what is shut down or why? Whether there is a breakdown and who has done it and for what reason?” Justice Bobde said.

To which, Venugopal said that media is travelling to cover the stories from Kashmir and newspapers are being published without any difficulty. He also said that Dish TV channel and Radio Kashmir are also operational.
