Delhi Police have uncovered an organised racket involved in the illegal sale of expired branded food and beverage products like Maggi, Bournvita and Thums Up after allegedly altering their manufacturing and expiry dates before reintroducing them into the market. Authorities said products worth more than INR 20 lakh were seized during the operation, and seven people have been arrested. The action was carried out by a team from the Okhla Industrial Area Police Station in South East Delhi following an investigation into the suspected illegal trade.

According to police, the accused were allegedly collecting expired food and beverage products of well-known domestic and international brands, manipulating their manufacturing and expiry dates, and repackaging them to make them appear fresh before selling them to consumers. Among the products recovered during the raid were expired packets of Maggi noodles, Bournvita, Thums Up and other branded consumer goods that were allegedly being prepared for resale. Police said the operation was highly organised, with the accused using equipment and packaging materials to alter product labels and conceal the original expiry details.
Goods Worth Over INR 20 Lakh Seized
During the raids, investigators seized a large quantity of expired food and beverage products along with machinery and materials allegedly used for relabelling and repackaging. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at more than INR 20 lakh.
Officials said further investigation is underway to determine the scale of the operation, identify the distribution network and ascertain how long the racket had been functioning. The seven arrested have been identified as Darshan Singh Sachdeva, Nitesh Bhardwaj, Narender Kumar, Kapil, Lucky Ojha, Prem Yadav and Pawan Kumar Yadav. Police are questioning the accused to trace the source of the expired products and identify retailers or distributors who may have been involved in selling the repackaged goods.
