Amid resounding chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya", more than 61,600 idols of Lord Ganesh were immersed across various water bodies in Mumbai following the conclusion of the one-and-a-half-day Ganeshotsav festivities. According to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a total of 61,640 idols were safely immersed by Wednesday morning, September 16. Civic authorities confirmed that the entire initial immersion phase proceeded smoothly without any untoward incidents reported across the metropolis.

Civic Arrangements and Safety Measures
The civic body had made elaborate administrative arrangements at designated natural waterfronts and specially constructed artificial ponds across the metropolis to facilitate devotees and streamline traffic and crowd movement. According to traditional customs, idols of Lord Ganesh are immersion-bound after one-and-a-half days, as well as on the fifth, seventh, and final days of the celebrations.
