New Delhi, October 4: Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flagged off Dwarka -Najafgarh corridor of Delhi metro on Friday at Metro Bhawan. The 4.29 km-long Grey Line of the Delhi Metro will connect urban village area of Najafgarh to the rapid transit network for the first time. The metro line will be opened for passengers from 5 pm today. With today’s inauguration, the total metro network of the country has crossed 667 km with 377 km in Delhi. Delhi Metro's Dwarka-Najafgarh Corridor Gets CMRS Nod.

The Grey Line is a standard-gauge section. A total of 2.57 km is elevated and 1.5 km underground. The grey-line will have three stations, Dwarka, Nangli and Najafgarh. While Dwarka and Nangli are elevated stations, Najafgarh is underground. Commuters can change to Blue Line connecting Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida Electronic City and Vaishali in Ghaziabad. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had earlier said the corridor is being extended by another 1.18 km till Dhansa Stand, which is slated for completion by December 2020. Anuj Dayal, the executive director, corporate communication of the DMRC said that the total travel time on this section should be 6 minutes and 20 seconds. During peak hours, the frequency of 7 minutes and 30 seconds will be maintained on this stretch.
