How a Fake Kidnapping Complaint Led to the Arrest of 8 Human Traffickers in Thane Who Sold Minor Girl for S*x Trade
The MBVV police dismantled a human trafficking racket, arresting eight people - including two couples - for forcing a 14-year-old girl from Haryana into the s*x trade. The minor was sold for INR 50,000 and repeatedly raped. The abuse was uncovered after a prime suspect filed a fake kidnapping complaint, prompting a police rescue.
A fake kidnapping complaint filed by a security guard has led the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) police to unearth a human trafficking network operating between Haryana and Maharashtra. Authorities arrested eight individuals, including two married couples, on charges of trafficking a 14-year-old girl from Ambala and forcing her into commercial s*x work. The investigation revealed that the suspects repeatedly assaulted the teenager after bringing her to the Mumbai metropolitan region under false promises.
The abuse came to light only after the prime suspect inadvertently drew police attention to the case by filing a false missing person report. S*x Racket Busted in Navi Mumbai: Prostitution Ring Operating from Spa Exposed; 7 Women, Including 4 Thai Nationals, Rescued.
Fake Guardian Filed False Kidnapping Case
The case unfolded after one of the primary suspects, Sanjay Gupta, a local security guard, approached the Navghar police station in Bhayander. Gupta registered a formal complaint stating that the 14-year-old girl under his custody had disappeared after going out to purchase supplies for Holi. Following the complaint, local police initiated a kidnapping probe. Acting on a subsequent tip-off received during their search operations, a police team located and rescued the teenager from a location in Bhayander.
Rescue Leads to Revelation of S*x Abuse
A specialised team took over the victim's care to document her statement. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-I) Rahul Chavan stated that a woman police officer took the girl into confidence, bringing a horrific tale of abuse to light. "The girl revealed that the complainant, Gupta, was not her relative," DCP Chavan said. According to investigators, Gupta had approached the victim's family in Ambala, Haryana, promising to look after the minor and finance her education in Mumbai. Instead, he trafficked her to the city to push her into the flesh trade. The teenager told officers that she was repeatedly raped by multiple suspects, including Gupta, which eventually forced her to risk escaping from their custody. Minor Sold for Commercial S*x Work
Senior Police Inspector Mukund Yadav of the Navghar police station confirmed that the network ran much deeper than an isolated custody issue. The police investigation showed that the minor had been sold for INR 50,000 for the s*x trade. "While probing the initial kidnapping case, we stumbled upon this deep-rooted s*x racket," Yadav said. The MBVV police have booked all eight suspects under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for kidnapping, rape, and committing s*xual intercourse under false promises of employment or marriage. The accused also face stringent charges under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POCSO) Act as further legal proceedings continue.
