Mumbai, August 10: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today has opposed the bail plea filed by Indrani Mukherjea. The CBI said that Indrani does not deserve leniency on the health grounds. The investigation agency also dismissed the claim that there was a threat to her life. Indrani filed a bail application before the special CBI court in Mumbai through her advocate Gunjan Mangla last week citing threat to his life.

Currently, Indrani is lodged in Byculla Jail for allegedly murdering her daughter Sheena Bora from a previous marriage. In her bail application, Indrani has said that there is a threat to her life in the women's jail in Byculla. According to a report published in The Indian Express, she had cited two instances when she was hospitalised following an alleged drug overdose.

On April 6 this year, Indrani was rushed to JJ Hospital from Byculla women’s court in a semi-conscious condition. She underwent a series of medical examinations including a brain MRI. The hospital authorities said that she had an overdose of anti-depressants which were not prescribed to her. In April 2015 too, she was rushed to the hospital due to the same reason. In April 2012, Sheena Bora was murdered, and her body disposed of in a forest area in the Raigad district.
