A newly married man in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi has approached police alleging that he found his wife with another man at their home and was subsequently assaulted when he confronted them. The man, who married the woman on June 24, has also alleged that his wife had been giving him sleeping medication mixed with food or drinks in the weeks following their marriage. Police said they have received his written complaint and are investigating the allegations, India Today reported.

Husband Claims He Found Wife With Another Man
According to the husband's complaint, he began suspecting that something was wrong after repeatedly falling ill. He alleged that his wife started giving him sleeping medication mixed with tea, milk or food around two to three weeks after their wedding.
He further claimed that a young man had visited their house on earlier occasions when his wife was alone. On August 19, neighbours allegedly told him that the man had visited the house, but his wife denied the allegation when questioned. The husband said the same man allegedly returned on August 23. After being informed that he was at the house, he returned and opened the door, where he claimed to have found his wife and the man together in an objectionable situation.
Alleged Assault After Confrontation
The man alleged that a confrontation followed and that his wife held his hands while the other man attempted to strangle and assault him. He reportedly raised an alarm, following which neighbours arrived at the house and intervened. Police were subsequently called to the scene to control the situation.
The allegations made by the husband have not been independently established, and police have not announced any finding confirming the claims against the woman or the other man.
Video Circulates on Social Media
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. According to India Today, the footage shows a room with several people present and a man and woman sitting on a bed, who are purportedly the husband’s wife and the alleged lover. The video alone does not establish the circumstances leading up to the confrontation or independently verify the allegations made in the police complaint.
Couple Married in June
The husband told police that he married the woman, who is from Bhander in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, according to Hindu rituals on June 24.
The allegations have emerged around two months after the marriage, with the husband now expressing concern for his own and his family's safety. He went to the police station along with his parents and requested action based on his complaint.
Police Begin Investigation
A senior police officer said police had reached the location after receiving information about the dispute and subsequently received a written complaint from the husband.
The officer said the allegations were being investigated and that further action would depend on the findings of the inquiry. For now, the case remains under investigation, and the claims regarding the alleged medication, assault and relationship have not been established by police.
