Karnataka Woman Found Dead at Lodge, Husband Allegedly Strangles Her With ID Card Tag

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband at a lodge in Doddaballapur in Karnataka's Bengaluru Rural district, following which he reportedly fled the spot with her mobile phone. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the accused. The deceased has been identified as Vidya, a resident of Nagargere village in Gauribidanur taluk. Her husband, Anand, is allegedly accused of killing her inside the lodge, according to preliminary police information.

Woman Allegedly Strangled With ID Card Tag

According to the preliminary investigation, Vidya was allegedly strangled using an ID card tag. Police said Anand allegedly left the lodge after the incident and took Vidya's mobile phone with him. Doddaballapur Town Police reached the lodge after the incident was reported and began examining the scene. Couple Had Been Married for Around Four Years

Vidya and Anand had reportedly married for love around four years ago and had a young son. After their marriage, the couple lived in a rented house in Gandhinagar, Doddaballapur. Police said the couple had been facing marital problems for around six months. Vidya subsequently left her husband and moved to a paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru about two months before the incident.

Husband Had Earlier Reported Wife Missing

According to the available reports, Anand had earlier approached the Doddaballapur women's police station and reported Vidya missing. Police later traced Vidya and, around 20 days ago, brought the couple together for counselling. Following the intervention, Vidya was reportedly sent back with her husband. Investigators are now examining what happened between that intervention and the alleged killing at the lodge.

Police Search Underway for Husband

A case has been registered at Doddaballapur Town Police Station. Police are searching for Anand and examining CCTV footage from the lodge along with other evidence. Investigators are yet to establish the exact motive for the alleged killing. They are also looking into whether the couple's reported marital dispute was connected to the incident.
