One person was killed and around 20 others were injured after a private bus overturned near Kuttippuram in Kerala's Malappuram district on the Thrissur-Kozhikode route on Sunday.

According to preliminary information, the accident occurred after the bus reportedly lost control, collided with an autorickshaw and overturned onto a car that had been parked on the roadside following an earlier accident.

CCTV Captures the Crash

CCTV footage from the accident site captured the terrifying moments leading up to the crash. The video showed the bus skidding for more than 25 metres before crashing into a divider along the service road and overturning.

Rescue Operation Launched

Police, Fire and Rescue Services personnel, along with local residents, rushed to the spot and worked together to rescue those trapped inside the bus. Rescue teams cut open parts of the overturned vehicle to free passengers.

The injured were shifted to hospitals in Kuttippuram, Valanchery and Kottakkal for treatment. Authorities said three of the injured remain in critical condition.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident. More details are awaited as officials continue to assess the circumstances that led to the crash.
