Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Siya Goyal Wanted 3 More Years Before Marriage, Claim Police
The Pune Police investigation into realtor Ketan Agarwal's murder has uncovered what investigators allege was a conspiracy involving his fiancée Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary. Police claim the accused wanted to delay marriage and are examining 2,004 phone calls, a Udaipur trip, a café meeting and deleted chats as part of the ongoing investigation.
The investigation into the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has uncovered what police describe as a planned conspiracy allegedly driven by the accused's desire to postpone marriage. Investigators claim that Siya Goyal, who was engaged to Agarwal, told police she did not want to marry him and believed that if he was killed, she would gain at least three more years before having to think about marriage. Police also allege that her boyfriend and co-accused, Chetan Chaudhary, wanted another two to three years before marrying Siya.
According to investigators, the two allegedly chose not to call off the arranged marriage due to concerns over social embarrassment. Instead, police suspect they conspired to eliminate Agarwal. The allegations are part of an ongoing investigation, and the claims made by police are yet to be tested in court. Police Claim Siya Goyal Wanted To Delay Marriage
As the investigation progressed, police said they found evidence suggesting Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were in a relationship before her engagement to Ketan Agarwal.
According to investigators, Siya and Chetan travelled with friends to Udaipur in January, where they spent five days together, weeks before Siya became engaged to Agarwal in February. Chetan, who is originally from Rajasthan, is believed to have become closer to Siya during the trip. Police also said Chetan was known to Siya's family through her elder brother, Sahil Goyal. Investigators believe Siya first met Chetan while accompanying her brother to cricket matches before the two reconnected later.
Call detail records have become a key part of the investigation. Police claim Siya and Chetan exchanged 2,004 phone calls from January onwards, speaking for a combined 238 hours. Investigators believe the frequency and duration of the conversations may provide important evidence as they seek to establish the sequence of events leading up to the alleged murder.
Investigators are also examining a meeting between the two accused that took place a day before Ketan Agarwal's death. According to police, Siya and Chetan met at a café in Pune's Lullanagar area on June 17. The meeting reportedly lasted nearly an hour, from around 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Police are investigating whether the alleged murder plot was discussed during that meeting.
The investigation has also shifted to digital forensic analysis after police alleged that both accused attempted to erase electronic evidence. Investigators said WhatsApp chats, Instagram messages and other digital records were allegedly deleted before and after the crime. Police claim the accused also cleared recycle bins and attempted to remove other digital traces.
Forensic experts are now working to recover the deleted data to reconstruct the timeline and establish the sequence of communication between the accused.
As part of the widening investigation, police questioned Siya's brother, Sahil Goyal, for nearly 10 hours on Friday. Officials said he was questioned about his acquaintance with Chetan Chaudhary and other aspects of the investigation before being allowed to leave.
Police are also expected to record statements from other members of Siya's family as they continue investigating what they allege was a carefully planned conspiracy that culminated in Ketan Agarwal's murder.
