In an unprecedented action, the Election Commission on Friday castigated Congress President Kharge for obstructing the ongoing Lok Sabha election. The commission said the Congress President had made caseless allegations regarding the release of voter turnout data in the middle of ongoing polls which are designed to create confusion, misdirection and impediments in the conduct of free and fair polls. The commission further said that such utterances can have a negative impact on voters' participation and demoralize the large election machinery across states.

The Shadnagar police on Friday registered a case against BJP candidate Navneet Rana for making comments during an election campaign meeting stating that a vote for Congress is nothing but supporting Pakistan. In the complaint, officials of the Election Commission stated Navneet Rana, while addressing a crowd, had said, "If you give vote to Rahul Gandhi, you are giving a vote to Pakistan."

In a horrific incident, a man in Delhi has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually harassing an eight-year-old girl. Police said that after kidnapping the girl, the man sexually assaulted her for 24 hours. The ordeal left her body scarred with injuries inflicted by the harasser's teeth in multiple places.

Mumbai, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a roadshow in Bhubaneswar on May 10. The security arrangements have been beefed up for PM's event, said the police. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Bhubaneswar on May 10th and has a roadshow planned in Janpath, Bhubaneswar. The roadshow is planned for the night hours," Prateek Singh, DCP, Bhubaneswar, told ANI.

At least eight people died and several injured in an explosion in a firecracker factory in Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar on Thursday. The blast occurred in a firecracker factory in Sivakasi's Sengamalapatti, owned by Sudharshan, on Thursday afternoon, destroying seven factory rooms. Locals said that the magnitude of the blast was so high that a loud bang was heard from a distance of around 1 km. White smoke could be seen emanating from the factory after the blast.

An Indian student in Chicago, US, has been missing since May 2.
