A 66-year-old retired Army havildar allegedly shot his son dead following a heated argument over his plans for a second marriage before later dying by suicide in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, police said on Monday. According to police, the accused had been in a relationship with a woman after the death of his wife and reportedly intended to marry again. Investigators said the retired serviceman and his son got into an argument at their residence on Sunday night. During the altercation, the father allegedly opened fire on his son using a licensed weapon, killing him on the spot.
