Mumbai Rain Disrupts Transport
Heavy rainfall since Friday morning has led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas of Mumbai, affecting road traffic and causing delays to suburban train services on some routes.
Authorities have also reported flight diversions and delays due to adverse weather conditions. Emergency response teams have been deployed to clear waterlogged roads, remove fallen trees and monitor vulnerable locations across the city.
Holiday in Thane and Palghar
Apart from Mumbai, district administrations in Thane and Palghar have also declared a holiday for schools and colleges in view of the IMD's Red Alert.
Residents in these districts have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying areas, as heavy rainfall is expected to continue.
Authorities have urged people to stay away from overflowing drains, waterlogged roads and coastal areas. Citizens have also been advised to follow official weather bulletins and updates issued by local administrations and disaster management authorities.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely to persist over the weekend, prompting authorities to remain on high alert and continue monitoring the situation.
