Mumbai: Woman Repeatedly S*xually Assaulted by Husband's Acquaintances in Goregaon, Police Launch Probe
Bangur Nagar Police in Mumbai have launched a major investigation after a 20-year-old woman reported repeated s*xual assaults at her Goregaon West residence. The victim alleged attacks by an unidentified intruder and four acquaintances of her husband. An FIR has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as authorities verify the claims and locate the suspects.
The Bangur Nagar Police in Mumbai have launched a major investigation after a 20-year-old woman alleged that she was repeatedly s*xually assaulted by four acquaintances of her husband and an unidentified accomplice at her rented flat in Goregaon West, officials said on Friday, August 21.
According to the complaint, the victim had been living with her husband, who works as a driver, in the Bhagat Singh Nagar area since July 25, Mid Day reported. The victim stated that an unidentified man who had seen her returning home entered her house during the first week of July while she was sleeping and s*xually assaulted her. Frightened by the incident, she did not immediately tell anyone.
Two days later, two acquaintances of her husband, identified in the complaint as Sultan and Ankush, arrived under the pretense of retrieving the landlord's belongings. Once inside, they allegedly locked the door, beat her when she resisted, and s*xually assaulted her.
The following day, two more acquaintances, identified as Talib and Raja, allegedly entered the home while she was alone and assaulted her again. Intimidated by the suspects, the victim kept silent and did not inform her husband and parents or reached out to the Mumbai Police. On August 17, the victim left the property citing health issues and moved back to her parents' house, where she eventually disclosed the ordeal. She subsequently filed a formal police complaint on August 19.
"An FIR has been registered at Bangur Nagar police station under Sections 64(1), 70(1), and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," a police officer said. "The facts of the case are being verified, and a detailed investigation is underway considering the seriousness of the matter," he said. Police said that they are currently actively investigating the entire matter and the names of four suspects alongside the unidentified accomplice.
