According to sources, the incident surfaced while examinations were underway after invigilators noticed that the spectacles worn by the students appeared different from ordinary glasses in terms of design and fitting. Officials said examination staff became suspicious after observing the unusual appearance of the spectacles and approached the students for further checking. Upon closer inspection, the glasses were allegedly found to be smart electronic devices equipped with advanced technological features. Sources said the college administration immediately intervened after the discovery.
Students Suspended From Ongoing Exams
Following the incident, both students were reportedly stopped from appearing for the examination paper and suspended from the ongoing examination process. The college has also initiated an internal inquiry into the matter.
Officials said that while there is currently no direct evidence proving the students used the smart glasses to photograph question papers or access AI-generated answers, possession of such electronic gadgets inside an examination hall itself constitutes a serious violation of exam regulations. The matter has now been referred to the institution’s Unfair Means Committee for detailed investigation. After the inquiry is completed, the findings will reportedly be forwarded to the university-level committee, which will decide further disciplinary action.
Pro-Vice Chancellor and Principal Director Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar said the university would hear the students’ version before reaching a final conclusion. She added that any future action would depend on the findings submitted by the inquiry committee.
