The Pimpri-Chinchwad crime branch busted a prostitution racket operating under the guise of a spa in the Wakad area on Friday. The police arrested the establishment's owner and manager during the raid, officials confirmed. Acting on a tip-off, a crime branch team led by Senior Police Inspector Nitin Gite executed the operation. Investigators found two women at the facility who were allegedly being forced into prostitution. Both women were safely rescued and sent to a local rescue home. Following the raid, a formal case was registered against the accused at the Hinjewadi police station on Saturday. This operation is part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal establishments in the region. According to Inspector Gite, the crime branch has raided 11 spas or massage parlours and four hotels involved in alleged prostitution activities since January this year. Additionally, authorities have dismantled one online prostitution network. The sustained enforcement drive has resulted in the arrest of 38 individuals and the rescue of 37 women, who have been relocated to protective rescue homes. To deter similar illegal operations, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey has issued strict directives to seal three spas and one hotel for a one-year period. This follows a similar enforcement action in 2025, where the Police Commissioner ordered the closure of eight such establishments for a year. Law enforcement authorities stated that strict action against illegal rackets in the twin cities will continue.
