Tamil Nadu Shocker: 2men Arrested Under POCSO Act for Allegedly Gang-Raping 14-Year-Old Girl in Chengalpattu

The Tamil Nadu police have arrested two men, including an engineering college student, for allegedly abducting and gang-raping a 14-year-old girl near Kalpakkam in the Chengalpattu district. The arrests were made following a complaint registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on Tuesday night, June 23, in Karaithittu village. The survivor, a seventh-grade student, had gone to a nearby field due to a lack of toilet facilities at her residence when she was reportedly followed by the two suspects. The police identified the accused as 20-year-old Maheswaran, a student at a private engineering college, and 27-year-old Ajay, both residents of the same locality. The official complaint states that the suspects threatened the minor, gagged her with a piece of cloth, and forcibly brought her to the terrace of Maheswaran’s residence, where the assault took place. When the girl attempted to resist, the attackers allegedly struck her on the head with a wooden log before fleeing the scene. The survivor's father discovered her unconscious on the terrace after launching a search when she failed to return home. She was subsequently admitted to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital, where she is currently receiving intensive medical treatment. Following the father's formal complaint at the Mamallapuram All Women Police Station, law enforcement officials tracked down and apprehended both suspects.
