A 34-year-old man, identified as Parvez, was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly killing his wife over suspicion of an extramarital affair at their rented house in Hardoi’s Islamnagar Tiliya locality. Police said Parvez walked into a local police station and surrendered shortly after committing the crime.

The victim, 28-year-old Nagma, had been married to Parvez for nearly 12 years, TOI reported. Investigators reported that their relationship had been strained for several months, with Parvez suspecting her of being in contact with another man over the phone, leading to frequent domestic disputes. Lucknow: UP Police Head Constable Bludgeons Wife to Death With Iron Rod, Arrested.

Brutal Attack During Sleep

According to investigators, Nagma was sleeping when Parvez allegedly launched a sudden attack using a sharp-edged weapon. Police said he assaulted her repeatedly before severing her head. The couple had reportedly moved into the rented house about one-and-a-half months ago, following the sale of Parvez's ancestral property.

Family members of the victim have alleged a history of sustained domestic violence preceding the incident. Nagma’s sister, Sabbo, claimed that Parvez subjected her to prolonged physical abuse and had repeatedly threatened to slit her throat in the days before the murder. Double Murder-Suicide Rocks Lucknow: Pragya Mishra’s Sister Shot Dead by Husband Manas Vajpayee, Accused Kills Sister Before Suicide.

Additionally, Nagma’s mother, Zahida, stated that her daughter faced continuous harassment from her husband and in-laws. The family also alleged that some of Parvez's relatives were present in the house when the crime took place.

Police have taken custody of Nagma’s body and sent it for a postmortem examination. Law enforcement officers are currently interrogating Parvez, probing the specific claims made by the victim's family, and attempting to recover the weapon used in the offense.
