The Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam has sought transparency regarding 200 silver bricks donated for the Ram Temple's construction in 2021, claiming it never received an official receipt or details about their utilisation. The organisation says it is prepared to share documents with the SIT investigating allegations related to temple donations and offerings.
The Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam has called for transparency regarding 200 silver bricks it says were donated for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya in 2021. The organisation claims it has neither received an official receipt for the donation nor any information about how the silver was used, and has indicated that it is willing to share supporting documents with investigators examining allegations related to temple donations.
The issue comes as a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is conducting an inquiry into allegations concerning the management of offerings and donations linked to the Ram Temple. The Sindhi organisation says it is not making accusations against any institution but is seeking clarity on a contribution made collectively by devotees from around the world. According to Dr. Raju Manwani, International President of the Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam, members of the global Sindhi community donated 200 silver bricks on January 26, 2021.
Manwani said each brick weighed approximately one kilogram and was engraved with the image of Jhulelal, the revered deity of the Sindhi community. 'INR 200 Crore Cash, Diamonds Missing; Who Is Being Protected?': Arvind Kejriwal on Alleged Ram Temple Theft (Watch Video).
He stated that Sindhi devotees from 12 countries participated in the initiative. More than 150 representatives reportedly travelled from Mumbai to Lucknow by air and then proceeded by road to Ayodhya to take part in the donation programme.
The organisation claims the silver bricks were handed over to Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, at Karsevakpuram. It has also released photographs of the event and says additional documents are available.
Manwani said the organisation has not received any formal acknowledgement or receipt for the donation. He also stated that community members have not been informed about how the donated silver was utilised during the temple's construction process.
According to the organisation, the request is aimed at ensuring transparency and respecting the sentiments of devotees who contributed to the donation. The group has expressed readiness to provide photographs, records and other supporting material to investigators if required.
The concerns have emerged while a three-member SIT continues to investigate allegations of irregularities in the handling of offerings and donations connected with the Ram Temple. Sources familiar with the inquiry said investigators have been collecting evidence, reviewing financial records and recording statements from individuals linked to the matter.
Several people have reportedly been questioned more than once, with supplementary statements recorded to address inconsistencies and gather additional information.
According to sources, the SIT is nearing completion of its preliminary findings and may submit a report to the government in the near future. The report is expected to outline the facts gathered during the investigation and may recommend further action if any evidence of financial irregularities or procedural lapses is identified.
Any decision regarding subsequent legal or administrative action would be taken by the government after reviewing the report and obtaining legal advice.
The Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam said it is now awaiting clarity on whether the ongoing inquiry will examine the status and utilisation of the 200 silver bricks donated during the Ram Temple construction phase.
The organisation maintains that its objective is to obtain transparency regarding the donation and ensure accountability concerning contributions made by devotees from India and abroad.
