The result for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 has been declared for Daman and Diu, union territory in India. According to the ECI, BJP candidate Lalubhai Babubhai Patel beats INC Ketan Dahyabhai Patel. Daman and Diu, April 23: Daman and Diu is a union territory, located in western India. Spanning over an area of 112 square kilometres, it comprises of two distinct regions with the Gulf of Khambhat in between them, Daman and Diu joined the Indian union in 1961. The result of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 held in Daman and Diu and other states and union territories will be declared today, May 23. The main electoral contest is between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC). Daman and Diu is the second smallest UT of India and is represented by one parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha. According to the Election Commission of India, the union territory registered a voters’ turnout of 71.83%, a slight dip from 2014, which recorded 77.84% voter turnout. The citizens in Daman and Diu parliamentary constituency elect one Member of Parliament who represents the concerns of the whole Union Territory in the Lower House.

Polling for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in Daman and Diu was held in Phase 3 on April 23, as scheduled by the ECI. Lalubhai Patel (BJP) is considered as the incumbent MP from this constituency. In 2014 General Elections, he reportedly secured, 46,960 votes and defeated Ketan Dahyabhai of INC who got 37,738 votes.
