InĀ Bhopal Dakshin-Paschim,Ā the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fieldedĀ Umashankar Gupta against Congress candidateĀ P.C. Sharma. In 2013 polls, Gupta had won the seat by defeating Congress candidateĀ Sanjeev Saxena withĀ 71167 votes.
InĀ Bhopal Madhya, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fieldedĀ Surendra Nath Singh against Congress candidateĀ Arif Masood. In 2013, BJP's Surendra Nath Singh had defeated Congress candidate Masood with 70696 votes.

In Madhya Pradesh, at least 1,145 Electronic Voting Machines were replaced following complaints of technical snags, reports PTI quoting election officials. Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantha Rao says 2,126 voter verifiable paper audit trail machines were replaced during the polls, reports ANI.
Polling began on Wednesday morning to elect a 230-member assembly in Madhya Pradesh, where the ruling BJP and opposition Congress are fighting for supremacy.
Polling is being held between 8 am and 5 pm for 227 seats. In three assembly segments ā Lanji, Paraswada and Baihar ā in the Naxal-affected Balaghat district, the voting time is between 7 am to 3 pm.
