During the past few months, many studies reported a spike in sales of sex toys in many countries. With people being confined indoors, it seems to have given them an opportunity to reconnect with oneself, and this has included adult activities too. For example, in Ireland and Columbia, the sales of sex toys were increased during the lockdown. But for a country like India, where people, like we mentioned already, are often forbidden to discuss sex openly, a study revealed some insightful insights, that may come as a surprise to many.

Thatspersonal.com published an analytical report, titled, “India Uncovered: Insightful Analysis of Sex Products’ Trends in India,” that found the sex toys market has seen a spike of 65%. The analysis was done after a trend study of over 22 million visitors and about, 3,35,000 products sold online. According to the trends, Maharashtra emerged as the top state in the ranking of sex product sales. The state is followed by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In terms of metro cities, Mumbai remains on the top, with the highest sale of sex products, with Bengaluru and New Delhi, being placed on the second and third rank, respectively. The study further states that Surat city has maximum buying appetite, with Rs 3,900 per order placed. Uttar Pradesh holds the record for maximum male buyers among all states. When studying the surfing pattern, the reported added that shopping time for men was between 9:00 pm and midnight and for women, it is between 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The analysis also notes that while first-time buyers are male, females have placed more repeat orders.
