Passengers Stranded For Hours After Cancellation
The incident came amid claims that passengers at Bhubaneswar Airport were left waiting after an IndiGo flight scheduled to depart at 2:35 PM was reportedly cancelled only around 5:30 PM, several hours after its scheduled departure time. Social media accounts alleged that passengers were not informed about the cancellation in a timely manner, with many still waiting at the airport even by 6 PM without clear communication or adequate assistance from the airline. One passenger alleged, "Our flight was scheduled for 2:35 PM. All of a sudden, it was cancelled at 5:30 PM without properly informing the passengers. We are stranded at Bhubaneswar Airport and have received no satisfactory response."
Social Media Reaction Split Over Passenger's Behaviour
The woman's conduct sparked backlash online, with many users pointing out that airport ground staff are often not responsible for flight cancellations or operational disruptions. One comment called for strict action by the CISF, even suggesting that such passengers be banned from air travel, while another urged people to "be angry at the situation, not at the people doing their job."
Several others stressed that staff "deserve to be treated with respect" and that passengers should maintain basic decency even when facing frustrating disruptions. IndiGo is yet to issue a response to the incident.
