Actor Christian Bale who won the Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) award at Golden Globes 2019 for Vice thanked Satan for inspiration. Bale was rewarded for playing US vice president Dick Cheney in the Adam McKay directed movie. During the acceptance speech, Bale said, "Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role." While the actor tried to crack a joke with that, it did not go down well with most social media users.

Soon tweets on conspiracy theories of satan society and that it "controls Hollywood" began to flood social media. Many also vowed not to watch Bale's movies again. As Bale's commented continued to go viral, Satan himself accepted the gratitude. The Church of Satan tweeted saying, "To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. As Mr. Bale's own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! The Church of Satan also noted, "Bale's Dark Knight era Batman is the best Batman ever." Clearly, a majority of social media users were not happy how Bale openly thanked Satan. In multiple religions including Christianity, Islam and Jewism, Satan is believed as an evil force that believers wish to stay away from.

Soon, Cheney's daughter, Liz Cheney who is an elected US representative for the state of Wyoming, shared a 2008 article about Bale being arrested for an alleged assault on his mother and sister. She captioned it saying: 'Satan probably inspired him to do this too.' Golden Globes Photobomber AKA Fiji Water Girl Kelleth Cuthbert Inspires HILARIOUS Memes.

Last year, the Satanic Temple settled a lawsuit "amicably" with Netflix and Warner Bros after they sued them over the portrayal of goat-headed deity Baphomet in The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina.
