Millennials, Baby Boomers and Gen Z; there is still no sign of peace between any of them. And the latest banter to hit social media is the hilarious Ok Boomer Memes. These memes are intended as sarcastic responses to the angry elders who are outright condescending to Millenials. For those who don't know, Millennials, also known as Generation Y are the ones born from the year 1981 to 1996. And baby boomers are the ones born between 1946 and 1964. Generation X are the ones born between the years 1965 to1980 and post-millennials are the ones born in 1997 and onwards. The phrase "Ok, Boomer" is doing rounds on the internet after disgruntled millenials have had it with the baby boomers. Well, it is a kind of an internet slang used to clap back at the people from the older generation who act stubborn and aren't supportive of change. Funny memes and jokes are going viral on the internet of people giving it back to the older people.

'Ok, Boomer' Explained

Ok, Boomer is a way of cryptically responding to the people from the older generation who always criticise and bad mouth the younger generations. So "ok, boomer" is a sassy reply to the unsolicited opinions from boomers that are insulting and mean. The baby boomer generation forms a huge part of the present generation.  It's a  verbal eye roll to that person.

Dictionary.com defines it as: "... a viral internet slang phrase used, often in a humorous or ironic manner, to call out or dismiss out-of-touch or close-minded opinions associated with the baby boomer generation and older people more generally."

However, it must be made clear that the "ok, boomer" clap back is only used for people who are being rude, ignorant, condescending and insulting to the younger generation. It is not aimed to be used otherwise to hurt people's sentiments.
