Härtig died on July 12, 19 days after the crash, according to Italian media reports.

The collision occurred on June 23 on a state road near Sella Pass in northern Italy. Italian outlets Trentino and il Dolomiti reported that Härtig collided head-on with former Italian Olympic alpine skier Peter Runggaldier while both were cycling. The incident remains under investigation by the Trento Prosecutor's Office.

Bicycle Crash Left Laura Viktoria Härtig Critically Injured

According to the reports, the impact was severe enough that Härtig's bicycle split in two, throwing her onto the asphalt and leaving her with life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders reportedly resuscitated her at the scene before she was airlifted to a local hospital in Italy.

Her family later transferred her to a hospital in Germany, where she died from her injuries 19 days after the collision.

Honeymoon Ended in Tragedy

Härtig had traveled to Italy for her honeymoon. Just two days before the crash, she shared footage from her wedding on Instagram, writing in the caption: "Soulmate for life." The post became one of her final public updates before the accident.

Peter Runggaldier Requests Privacy

Peter Runggaldier, 57, represented Italy in alpine skiing at the 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics. Following news of Härtig's death, he issued a statement on Instagram on July 14, asking for privacy.

He wrote: "Dear friends, in regard to the serious road accident in which I was involved, I ask you to respect my moment of pain and my need for confidentiality. My thoughts go out to all the people involved and their families. I trust in your sensitivity and please understand that at this time I will not give any interviews or statements." Authorities have not announced any findings from the ongoing investigation.

Härtig built an online following by documenting her travels, outdoor activities and personal experiences. Her Instagram account attracted more than 53,000 followers, many of whom expressed condolences after news of her death was shared. She was 30.
