Reliance Industries has rejected remarks by Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra about its media entities. In a statement on 28 August, the company said it noted the comments with dismay and strongly denied the allegations and insinuations. Chandra had stated that certain vested media houses were spreading wrong information about his personal insolvency proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal. He said reports had selectively interpreted the court order and overstated the claims against him. Reliance said its media brands have never been used to attack anyone and never will be. The group added that it holds Chandra in high regard as a businessman and entrepreneur and wished him well.
