IND Win By 5 Wickets | India vs West Indies Highlights, T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 Match: Men in Blue Qualify For Semi-Finals Sets Up Clash Against England

India successfully chased down a record 196-run target to secure a semi-final berth in the T20 World Cup 2026. The qualification comes on the back of a five-wicket victory against two-time champions West Indies in their IND vs WI Super 8 clash at Eden Gardens, courtesy of Sanju Samson, who led a masterful chase for the Men in Blue.

This should be India's match with Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson in the middle. Both players are known to use their heads and not play ultra-aggressive shots, unlike some of the other Indian batters thus far. 

Tilak Varma has made an immediate impact and managed to bring down the required run-rate, scoring 12 runs in Shamar Joseph's one over. Varma needs to complement Sanju Samson, who has held India's innings together.

OUT! Suryakumar Yadav fails yet again. Yadav's disastrous stay in the middle comes to an end. Despite a catch being dropped, Yadav went for the loft and handed a simple catch to Sherfane Rutherford off Shamar Joseph's bowling. 

Sanju Samson has singlehandedly kept India in the hunt, as the batter is nearing a well-deserved half-century. Samson, along with Suryakumar Yadav have added 50 in 29 balls.  India are well ahead in comparision to West Indies at this stage. 

A decent start for India, which ideally should have been wicketless, but Abhishek Sharma gifted his wicket, and then Ishan Kishan was set up perfectly by Jason Holder. Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav will need to consolidate here, with the latter looking well-set.  West Indies are in the game here. 

OUT! Jason Holder gets the wicket of in-form Ishan Kishan. A perfect setup by Holder, and Kishan holes out at deep square-leg where Shimron Hetmyer was placed strategically. 

OUT! Abhishek Sharma is having a pathetic tournament and gets out playing the slog shot. Sharma had a poor day in the field, which culminated in his 10-run stay in the middle. Akeal Hosein will be happy despite getting scored for 16 runs. 

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson will hope to provide India a brisk start here, given the target. This will be the highest at Eden Gardens in case India manages it. Pressure is clearly on India to chase down this mammoth score.

A phenomenal stand by Rovman Powell and Jason Holder sees West Indies post a solid 195 on the board. Holder and Powell added 76 off 35 balls, saw India's death over bowlers leak runs like an open tap. The poor fielding also contributed to the Windies scoring this much. 

After a good first spell, Arshdeep Singh starts his second with an expensive over, releasing all the pressure on West Indies.  Rovman Powell has absolutely mauled Singh in his third over, scoring 24 runs, putting the Windies back into the contest. 

OUT! Hardik Pandya gets a wicket on the first ball of his final over, as the drinks break goes in favour of India. Sherfane Rutherford wanted to play the dab towards third-man, but handed a simple catch to the wicketkeeper. 

OUT! Jasprit Bumrah has changed the course of the match, claiming the wickets of two set batters in one single over. Roston Chase failed to pick the slower ball and chipped the ball to mid-off, where Suryakumar Yadav claims easy catch. 

OUT! Jasprit Bumrah strikes, and Eden Gardens erupts. Shimron Hetmyer looked dangerous during his short-stay, but Bumrah dismissed his arch-nemesis for the sixth time in T20s. The batter did take DRS, but a faint edge saw the end of the cameo. 

Absolutely clueless bowling, as Shimron Hetmyer is taking on the Indian bowlers. In his short stay so far, Hetmyer has scored 25  off 10, which includes two sixes and one four. Hetmyer and Shai Hope have added 31 off just 13, and India are staring at a massive total. 

OUT! Finally, India have a breakthrough, and it is noneotherthan Varun Chakaravarthy, who hands Men in Blue first blood. Shai Hope failed to connect the ball on the off-side as the ball kept low and sneaked past the bat crashing onto the stumps. 

This is a splendid stand by Roston Chase and Shai Hope, who have added 60-odd runs for the first wicket, which is the first time a team has managed to cross fifty-run mark against India this T20 World Cup. On the other hand, India are struggling to pick wickets, apart from that one chance of Jasprit Bumrah's over, the bowling has been toothless. 

Jasprit Bumrah did create a chance, but Abhishek Sharma dropped a sitter inside the circle. Sharma closed his hands early, which saw the ball pop out as Roston Chase survived. India are struglling to pick a wicket here. This is India's 11th drop catch in this competition. 

West Indies should have been one down, but Varun Chakaravarthy failed to notice the batters stranded at one end and threw at the safe end. Apart from the opening over, both Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh have given 10 runs each. 

A cautious start by the new Windies opening pair of Shai Hope and Roston Chase. West Indies will want to make full use of the powerplay, and lay down a platform for their big-hitters in the XI for the later part of the innings. India will want to dent Windies' batting as early as possible.
