Stumps: Hosts Pakistan national cricket team have scored 313 runs on day 1 of the PAK vs SA 1st Test 2025, for the loss of half of their team. After Abdullah Shafique got out early for just two runs, Imam-ul-Haq played like a warrior, scoring 93, and missing a well-deserved ton by just seven runs. Captain Shan Masood played a brilliant hand of 76 runs. While Mohammad Rizwan (62*) and Salman Ali Agha (52*) help the side stay at par with 114 runs partnership. Babar Azam managed only 23, while Saud Shakeel was gone for a duck. South Africa's Senuran Muthusamy picked two wickets; while Kagiso Rabada, Prenelan Subrayen and Simon Harmer picked one each.

As play of Day 1  nears its end at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Salman Ali Agha completes his half-century (50*). Agha becomes fourth batter to score a half-century in this innings for Pakistan.

Pakistan has crossed the 300-run mark. Salman Ali Agha smacked a six while nearing his fifty to help Pakistan cross 300 runs.

Mohammad Rizwan slams a well-deserved half-century. This happens to be the wicketkeeper's 12th fifty. This one comes off a pressure situation, as Mohammad Rizwan had come after Saud Shakeel was gone for a duck.

Hosts Pakistan are slowly building yet another partnership. Mohammad Rizwan is nearing his 12th Test fifty, currently batting at 44. Salman Ali Agha is 28 not out.

The right-hander was struck on his pads and the decision was referred to the third umpire by South Africa and it showed three reds. Pakistan have lost three wickets for 199 on the board. The post-tea session has started and Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan need to find a way to bounce back. Pakistan were dented with two quick wickets before tea and South Africa are in control at the moment. 

TEA! It has been a dramatic turn of events at tea, with Pakistan losing two wickets in two balls! Senuran Muthusamy has dismissed a well-set Imam-ul-Haq and Saud Shakeel in quick succession and all of a sudden, South Africa are right back in this. 

Despite the wicket of captain Shan Masood, the Pakistan cricket team are looking in full control. In at four, Babar Azam is looking to settle, having scored 21 runs so far. Imam-ul-Haq is marching towards a century, batting at 88 not out.

As the game goes on, it seems Pakistan are growing more in control of this game. Imam-ul-Haq and Shan Masood have not allowed South Africa's bowlers to dictate proceedings and they have easily dealt with whatever challenge has been thrown in front of them. South Africa meanwhile, are under pressure. 

Pakistan continue to have the upper hand in this PAK vs SA 1st Test 2025. Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq have largely looked unfazed by the bowling and at this rate, South Africa are staring at a very long day. South Africa also have dropped two opportunities and it included both the players.

FIFTY for Shan Masood! The Pakistan captain has played a good knock here and he will now look to convert this into a big score. He and Imam-ul-Haq have taken Pakistan to a strong position as South Africa continue to run out of answers. 

Imam-ul-Haq and Shan Masood have resumed proceedings in the second session of Day 1. Pakistan will look to continue the good work they have so far while South Africa eye a breakthrough. 

LUNCH on Day 1! It has been a great session for Pakistan who have had Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq who have steered the hosts to a position of control. Pakistan did not get off to the best of starts as they lost Abdullah Shafique in the very first over, but since then, Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq have done well to steady the ship and lead a fightback. South Africa failed to find any more wicket after Abdullah Shafique and at the end of the first session, Pakistan are clearly on top here.

FIFTY for Imam-ul-Haq! It has been a good innings by the left-hander and he will now want to convert it into a big one. The southpaw and captain Shan Masood have bailed Pakistan out of trouble after Abdullah Shafique's early departure and now, South Africa will slowly start to feel the pressure. 

Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq have carried on with their partnership and this has been a fightback by the two. South Africa on the other hand, have come close but have been unable to break this partnership. The next hour is going to be crucial in dictating which way the game heads. 

Pakistan are 51/1 at the end of 10 overs and this has been a fightback of sorts after losing Abdullah Shafique in the very first over of the match. Pakistan would want this partnership to continue while South Africa will look to take a couple of wickets here.
