So India have a lot of time to bat in this innings. They would look to make the most of it and take an unassailable lead in this innings and would like to make it the only innings they bat in. Bangladesh, on the other hand, would try to emulate the Indian bowlers. It won't be an easy task against this juggernaut of a batting side though. Hardly anything to talk about Bangladesh's batting. They won the toss but every batter struggled. Mushfiqur Rahim was the highest scorer but had India been at their usual self in the field, then that certainly would not have been the case. Liton and Mominul looked good but could not convert their starts. All-in-all the Bangla batsmen were completely decimated by the Indian bowlers and looked all over the place.

India have wrapped up Bangladesh for just 150. Brilliant bowling display from the hosts. They lost the toss but a look at this innings will not make you feel like that. They were just too spicy and too good for the visitors to tackle. The only thing that can be criticized off this innings from the hosts would be their catching. Apart from that they were just so magnificent making Bangladesh work for every single run. The trio of Ashwin, Umesh and Ishant scalped two each whereas Shami had 3. Jadeja was wicket-less but in his defense he just bowled 3 overs.

What an end to the session for India! Mohammed Shami two-in-two wickets has ensured that when the hosts come back for the final session of the day, they are into the visitors tail. Bangladesh had started well after Lunch scoring runs at a brisk pace. They were also helped by some poor catching in the field by the Indians. But then, Mominul Haque was castled by Ashwin and that opened the floodgates. Ravichandran Ashwin added one more wicket to his kitty before Shami came back on to pick out 2 more wickets right at the stroke of Tea.

So another session in the Indian shores dominated by Virat Kohli and Co. Can the Bangla Tigers roar back and enjoy a better second session or will India continue their dominance? Join us after the break to find out.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Bangladesh struggled to get going. Both their openers, Shadman and Kayes, struggled in the middle but it looked like they would somehow manage to survive the danger phase but that was not to be as Umesh and Ishant sent both the openers back to the pavilion. Mithun and Mominul then tried to steady the ship but the former could not last long. Rahim joined his skipper and though he has ridden his luck, he has managed to take his side to Lunch without any more casualties. The skipper has looked good and Bangladesh will be hoping that these two can build on their 32-run stand post Lunch and take the visitors to a good total.

No doubt to whom this session belonged to! The Indians have been in top gear and this session was an exhibition of how good their pace bowling attack is. All three pacers have bowled with venom and passion and their good work has been rewarded with one wicket each. Umesh and Ishant were excellent at the start while Shami and Ashwin too were good, not giving away any free runs.

Drinks! It has been a brilliant hour of play for the Indians. Their seamers have bowled extremely well, beating the edges of the bat at the start. They were rewarded though with the wickets of the Bangladeshi openers and are looking really good here. On his team changes, Virat informs that Shahbaz Nadeem is not a part of the squad and Ishant Sharma has replaced him.

Bangladesh skipper, Mominul Haque says that it looks a good pitch for batting and hence the decision. Further says that the pitch will do something in the fourth innings. Adds that it's an honour for him to lead his country. Tells that they are playing with seven batsmen and four bowlers.

Hello and a warm welcome to the coverage of the first Test between India and Bangladesh. The Bangla tigers are facing a tough challenge against a very good Indian side. Under a new captain, Mominul Haque, the visitors would hope for a good performance in order to have any chance to beat this strong Indian side. They are without their key players as Tamim Iqbal ruled himself out while Shakib Al Hasan has been banned from all forms of cricket. Although, the odds are heavily in favour of the hosts, the Bangla Tigers are capable of putting in a surprise. But the hosts might let Bangladesh take the field and demoralise their fragile confidence even further. Mayank Agarwal is down for an interview with Deep Dasgupta. He says that letting go of the fear of failure made him change his mindset and after that, he got hungrier for runs. Adds that there have been times when he didn't get runs so he wants to make most of his batting form by scoring big. Further says that playing his first game in Melbourne was special and helping his side win the game was a great feeling. Adds that the plan was to build partnerships and once that happened, they looked to get quick runs. Says that he backs himself to hit the biggies. Informs that they have not thought about the declaration yet but they are in the driver's seat.

The Bangladesh bowlers gave everything out there but except for Jayed, no other bowler looked threatening. Their spinners were actually played out with a lot of ease. Hasan did take a wicket but he went for almost 5 runs per over. Ebadot bowled a lot of overs but only had one wicket to his name. A very tiring day for them and one which they would like to forget.

Today was all about Agarwal though! The Indian opener is enjoying a golden patch in his career, especially in the first innings of a Test match. He has consistently scored well in the first innings of a Test match but today was something special. The way he attacked, the ease with which he was batting was just brilliant. He was well supported by Rahane and then Jadeja. The former missed out on a well-deserved ton whereas Jadeja has remained unbeaten at the end of the day. Umesh Yadav too enjoyed himself with the bat as he walked out to the middle before Ashwin and hit the ball to all parts of the ground. Overall, they have made the Bangladesh players toil really hard in the field and the visitors will be mentally and physically drained.

WOW! What an entertaining half-hour of play did we witness in the end! Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja both have a smile as they walk off the field and rightly so. The duo has added 39 in 19 balls and has stretched the lead close to 350. What a session for India! They are in the driver's seat as the lead is above 150 and they are still a long way from being done. Bangladesh bowlers worked hard. Abu Jayed has been the pick of the lot picking up both the wickets of the session to add to his overnight tally of one. The issue for them is that the duo of Rahane and Agarwal are starting to get runs at ease. After bundling Bangladesh for a mere 150 runs on Day 1, an unbeaten 72-run stand between Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara saw the Indians dominate. The pacers made the ball talk as Shami led the pack with a 3-fer. The visitors removed the in-form Rohit Sharma early with the ball but they could not pick another wicket as both Agarwal and Pujara got themselves in. And, once that happened, runs came thick and fast for the hosts. Mayank Agarwal got a life when Imrul Kayes dropped a sitter in the slips and the opener since then did not allow another opportunity. Pujara, on the other hand, has looked at his fluent best, scoring runs at a brisk pace. Now, how will Day 2 pan out? Indian skipper Virat Kohli had reckoned that the surface will be best for batting from the second day. With 9 wickets intact, Kohli's men would want to post a mountain in front of the visitors to bat them out and then look to bundle them again. Will they be able to do that or will the Bangladeshi bowlers be able to put the hosts under pressure with quick wickets? We will soon find out. One of the stars with the ball for India, Mohammed Shami is caught down for a chat with Sanjay Manjrekar. Shami says that he looks at the conditions and then decides what line to bowl on this wicket. Says he looks to use the width of the crease well. Adds that he enjoys taking wickets for the team and thinks bowling tight lines and lengths are the key to getting wickets.

A tiring and forgetful day for the visitors. They struggled with the bat and barring the wicket of Rohit Sharma, they have had nothing to cherish with the ball. The bowlers have had to toil hard and with a below-par score on the board that is always a struggle for the bowlers. They though need to keep their focus and come back stronger on Day 2.

After bundling out Bangladesh for just 150 courtesy of a 3-fer from Shami and 2 wickets a piece for Ashwin, Umesh and Ishant. The hosts did not get off to a good start with the bat as they lost Rohit Sharma early. Mayank Agarwal and Pujara though then stuck in and built a 72-run unbeaten stand with Pujara being the aggressor. Mayank Agarwal rode his luck as Imrul Kayes dropped a sitter at first slip late in the evening.

What a day for India! The only thing that did not go their way was the toss. Apart from that they have been on top of Bangladesh in each and every department and trail the visitors by just 64 runs.
