Despite wrist fracture, Bangladesh’s opener Tamim Iqbal came out to bat during his side Asia Cup 2018 match against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Tamim was forced to leave the field after he was hit by a ball while trying to play a pull shot off Suranga Lakmal in the second over of Bangladesh’s innings. He was later taken to the hospital and scans revealed a fracture. Having retired hurt, it looked impossible that Tamim will come out to bat again. Tamim Iqbal Ruled Out of Asia Cup 2018 Due to Fractured Wrist

But the left-handed opening batsman surprised one and all as he came out to bat after Bangladesh lost their ninth wicket. Tamim batted with one hand and played second fiddle to Mushfiqur Rahim, who took Bangladesh to a decent total with some skilful batting towards the end.

With Tamim on the other end, Mushfiqur played some lustrous shots. The duo added valuable 32 runs for the last wicket as Bangladesh came back to the hutch with some momentum and confidence on their side.  Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2018 As it Happened

Mushfiqur was instrumental in guiding Bangladesh to a decent total as he scored 144 off 150 balls. His stay included 11 fours and four sixes. Mushfiqur also shared a record 133-run partnership with Mohammed Mithun for the third wicket.

The right-hander came to bat with Bangladesh having lost two wickets in very first over of the match. Lasith Malinga, who was back in Sri Lankan colours, removed Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan on consecutive delivers. Malinga eventually picked a five-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Tamim’s decision to bat proved more than handy for Bangladesh as it gave them the cushion of extra 32 runs.
